In all of the craziness in prepping for Sadie's surgery, we jumped right to the most important tasks...
...you know:
rearranging the silverware drawers, folding a winter's worth of unmatched socks, mowing the lawn, gathering junk to donate.
...Clearly our minds are totally lucid just grasping at straws. We did however have enough "sanity" (and I use that term loosely) to ask some close friends over to pray for sweet Sadie before surgery....I mean! We are sending our unassuming 10 month old into the total unknown, afterall.
In the midst of the chaos, I had zero brain-functioning/desire to pre-plan any kind of "hosting snacks" for our selfless friends who were leaving their own kids at 8:00 at night to come encourage us. So at about 7:00, I thought it was a good time to look at Paul and basically tell him that we are a mess for not providing sustenance to the masses.
...and if you think God doesn't care about the small things, try explaining the warm crumb cake that showed up at our door 30 minutes before prayer time, delivered with love by Macey's best friend from school and her grandma (along with Nariyah's 8 year old "sadie poster" and a very special pin to remind us of so much support!).
Love when people let God use them to reach a fragile heart! Such sweet souls.
So many of you have shown me God through your love. Thank you!
I have been so blessed by all the texts, the prayers, the meals, the offers to help....it's all been so overwhelming. God surely knows what we need...and sometimes that's a warm bunt cake.
SO blessed! ...And so grateful!
