My 2014 theme word of the year was (and still is) "Simplify."
...So continues my November.
Simplifying comes easier to some more than others...and I'm one of the others.
Believe it or not, in order to simplify my environment, I've been "purging" stuff all year long...but "stuff" is either multiplying or just coming out from hiding, because I still have a house full of things.
I guess it's the American way...but I can't let that justification make me ever feel like "too much" is okay.
So with that said, I've already gotten rid of a bunch of shoes [after I read the book Seven:Experimental Mutiny against Excess with 4 of my best friends/Bible study partners (3ish years strong!)]...and while I'm not really a hoarder of shoes (except for maybe flip-flops, But rest easy, much of my overwhelming flip-flop collection was gone with the last shoe purge), I wanted to use November 2nd to browse my shoe collection one more time to make sure I didn't overlook something that I was holding onto unnecessarily.

November 2nd, my 2 things:
Yep, those both made the cut the first time around. don't judge me!
The fake "toms" were NEVER worn... because something about the way they rubbed against my heel made it impossible for me to ever decide against comfort when getting dressed and leaving the house. (if it's fashion vs. comfort, I will choose comfort every time!)
The boots....ummm....I don't even know.
Bought them on clearance for like $2.50 at target a few years ago. I did actually wear them once!....but then I felt like they were better suited for the 90's chunky heel era.
(though please note: style is not really "my thing" ...
and as you probably noticed, neither is spending a lot of money on clothing! ...
"Clearances" ARE my thing, but clearly some restraint needs to be learned.)
So up for grabs are 2 pairs of shoes in the size 9 range!... or Salvation Army will be seeing these puppies on their racks by Wednesday.
(and hopefully I don't rebuy them....which, if I am putting myself out there anyway, I've actually inadvertantly done.
I know! I know!...I carry that embarrassment around with me...
and I don't know if it makes it better or worse that I didn't realize said item was previously mine until I got home. I must have really loved that fleecey red peacoat with sleeves that barely hit my wrists. ;)
But don't worry, I have been cured of my thrift shop visits....by Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University of only making purchases with cash and a plan, and by new personal standards of not allowing myself to "browse" unless I am looking for something specific.
But I divert....
so, "Goodbye, shoes-that-never-did-anything-for-me. You have nothing left to offer me that I can't find from my more comfy, more decade-appropriate footwear....I'm sure I won't even realize you are gone in another few days, but for now I will imagine all of the outfits that just won't work without you."
